A fellow photographer from Canada, Marc Douglas, found us on the AG|WPJA and asked us to photograph his family when they came down to vacation at Myrtle Beach this summer. Marc is quite a photographer himself, so we were honored that he asked us to capture his family! Marc, his wife Mel, and their daughter Desiray were a joy to photograph. They are a cute little familial unit, and have a wonderful time together laughing and joking around. We look forward to more summer visits and inspiration from Marc’s blog

…here comes Noah Taylor.
Since posting from the road didn’t work out too well last week, here is another fun family post;) Our nephew Noah graduated from 5th grade back in June, and we are very proud of him! He is a pretty fantastic guy, and we can’t wait to see how well he does in Middle School. Hooray!

So blogging from the road has proved to be a bit more challenging than expected;). For today a photo Dan took with his Great Grandmother’s Kodak camera that uses 620 film (for non-photo pros, that means really hard to find film). He used it last summer when we were at his family farm to make sure it still worked after all these years, and in the words of the great Ken Toda, “645 not professional.” and old manual cameras are truly wonderful machines;)

Friday we had a lovely evening starting off at the American Theater to grab a quick photo for a client, and then playing a bit before we left;). We then headed down to Bin 152 for some great wine and French cheese…yum. After that we walked across the street to Imaging Arts to see the art show, “What is Charleston to you?.” Dan’s work looked great, along with all the other participating photographers. If you didn’t get a chance to see it Friday, the gallery will have the collection up for the next month so head on over to check out the photographs.

August is a an interesting month filled with bit of work, and a bit of fun;). We are visiting some of our family and photographing other families all month long. I (Amelia) am headed out on a road trip tomorrow with my Mom, Grandmom, and sister to DC, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey to visit relatives and old family stomping grounds. I’ve been looking forward to the trip for a while, and I’m crossing my fingers there is still some farm land left from my Pop Pop’s farm my Grandmom grew up on in New Jersey. Dan will be holding down the fort alone at the office, so please be patient as it may take us a bit longer to respond. I’m going to try and blog from the road, and I’m hoping to stick with the family theme. In a few weeks I am going to start a new column on Friday’s focusing on old family photos I’ve been archiving for the past year. For now, here are a couple of frames from some of the history I am going to be seeing over the next week…I am also taking the Polaroid camera that shot these frames to document our travels.

Pop Pop, who owned the farm my Grandmom was raised on.

Martha Gauntt Lackey (my Grandmom) who never likes to have her photo taken;)

Becky Lackey Phillips (my Mom) twirling her baton at Brandywine High School in Delaware

My Mom at her birthday party (not sure which) with friends we will also be visting in Delaware

Jim Lackey (my Grandad)
