Charleston Fashion Week has come to a close. Makes me a little sad, but the final show was incredible and the gala was amazing! Finalist’s Alena Fede, Lindsey Carter, and Maria Dobrzanska Reeves, all of Charleston, brought unique lines out that had such different looks and feeling. I find it so inspiring that they have taken their dreams and made them in to beautiful, unique clothing. First we saw Fede’s, Fede Grada, then Carter’s Troubadour line, and finally Reeves’ Marysia Charleston. I know it was a tough decision for the judges, but the 2009 Charleston Magazine Charleston Fashion Week Emerging Designer is Maria Dobrzanska Reeves! Congratulations to all the finalists and semi-finalists, they were all thought provoking and moving lines filled with love. Fashion conscious brides-to-be sipped on Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s while watching the Senior Editor for Brides.com, Anne Chertoff, give tips on selecting a bridal gown. The event was presented by Gathering Floral & Event Design, and featured Belle Couture Bridal, White, Bella Vista Bridal, Charleston Formal Wear, and the Gown Boutique of Charleston. The dresses featured many of the new trends, such as flowers, short hemlines, and sashes.
At the end of the shows, one of the models, Kaylin Currie, was surprised with a proposal on the runway from her boyfriend, Randall Kindle, and she said Yes! Congrats to Kaylin and Randall and all the bridal stores. Everything looked FANTASTIC, and we can’t wait to see all these gorgeous and fun new trends in action. Day three has come and gone at the show. I am still looking for unique angles, light, etc., but today I really wanted to look at the subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) movement and gestures of the models.
