Charleston food and beverage entrepeneurs

We photographed local Charleston entrepreneurs Mike Ray of Normandy Farm Artisan Bakery, David Merritt and Jaime Tenney of Coast Brewery, Nicole Rager of Nicole’s Nutty Goodness, and Hank Weed of Caribrew Cold Press Coffee for an article in the Charleston Scene by Matthew Godbey.  Owning your own business is hard work, and it was extremely rewarding to photograph such talented and dedicated individuals.  They have all made their dreams their own reality, which takes a lot of courage and possibly a little bit of crazy;).  It is really a pleasure living in Charleston where so many small businesses live and thrive.  Here’s to local business and local talent!

As seen in the Scene…

Studio 101 workshop

I am gearing up for another Studio 101 workshop at the Charleston Center for Photography.  It will run Saturday August 14th, and it is a great opportunity to get in introduction to the world of lighting inside a studio.  The center recently got some new Elinchrom lights that we will use during the workshop.  The day will be filled with information on how to use studio lights, quality of light, and various lighting patterns.  Here is a link to a post from the last workshop, and what the students produced.  The best part is, we will be working inside and be out of the heat:).  If you would like to join us, we still have a few spots left so feel free to email me contact@dreamlandimages.com or call the center 843.720.3105 with any questions.  If you register before this weekend, you can use this code: A.Hale for a 10% early bird discount!

See you soon:)

Rees family portrait

We photographed the Rees’ family while they were on their vacation at the beach in Charleston SC.  They were such a fun group, and we have decided to commission them to record an album for all our upcoming family photo sessions;).  It was a gorgeous morning, and the colors of their clothing worked splendidly with the environment!

Midsummer’s Night Art Delight

We are SO excited to be a part of a group art show Thursday July 22nd with Pamela Cisneros, Kristen Ley, Kim Lucia, and Catherine Yerger.  It should be a fun evening filled with affordable art, jazz performed by Cristobal, wine and food.  The art will be a range of fine art photography, acrylics and mixed media.   There will be a piece of art given away in a raffle every 45 minutes, and each artist will donate 10% of their proceeds to a charity:).  Come out and see us at 234 Mathis Ferry Road, Suite 103 in Mount Pleasant (just off the bridge) from 5-9pm July 22nd.  Don’t forget to stop by our presenting sponsor, Mikell Law Firm’s, opening reception in their new space next door too!

Kate + Chris at Mingo Point Bay Kiawah Island resort

Kate and Chris had an intimate wedding with just a few close friends and family on Kiawah Island Resort.   The guys started off the wedding day festivities on the golf course at Oak Point, and the ladies headed over to the Sanctuary salon and spa.  The ceremony was at Mingo Point Bay, and it was stunning!  The weather couldn’t have been more pleasant, and the light was gorgeous.   The River City Dixieland Jazz Band carried everyone through the evening festivities, and even joined in on the dance floor.  The Lowcountry meal was simply delicious, and introduced a few northerners to some of the great southern delicacies.  After Mingo Point, the party moved over to the Turtle Point Clubhouse.  The dancing was fierce, and the porch created a relaxing setting for smoking cigars.   Honestly, if we had to get married again I think we would follow Kate and Chris’ plan to a tee.  It was a perfect wedding for a perfect couple.   Best wishes to Kate and Chris, and we hope you have many years of laughter!  Oh, and we miss Walter, so give him a hug for us;)
